Longest running club sponsorship in Offaly extended

August 03, 2010
Ferbane GAA club have set many records on the field of play, but a very special off the field relationship continued its record breaking run recently when the club's 21 year sponsorship deal with Flaherty Fuels was extended. Flaherty Fuels were the first company to sponsor any GAA club in Offaly once the rules for shirt sponsorship were changed over two decades ago and they have been consistent supporters of Ferbane GAA since that time, through successful and lean times. The company is very well known all around the midlands and has grown from strength to strength in recent years, currently servicing the midlands and west through the well known Flaherty Fuels brand, and their sister companies, Birr Oil, Garbally Oil and Claddagh Oil.

The reliability and quality of service that the company has become known for has meant that Flaherty Fuels have been able to consistently maintain their presence on the famous green jersey, and club chairman Aidan Doyle remarked how fortunate the club were to have such dependable sponsors at a time when so many other businesses are cutting back on such expenses.

"The people of Ferbane have always been well served by Flaherty Fuels down the years for motor fuel, home heating and everything else, but we've been very fortunate that they've consistently paid the community back with their support for Ferbane GAA. It's tough times out there for everyone and GAA clubs are no different in that regard with just as many expenses but pressure on income. Having a locally based sponsor like Flaherty Fuels has been a great comfort to us and we know that after 21 years, they've proven that they're genuinely concerned about the long term well being of Ferbane GAA and that they're willing to back that up with very generous sponsorship," said Aidan.

Ferbane resume their senior and junior championship campaigns this weekend with difficult ties in prospect against county champions Clara and Ballinagar respectively. Last year's junior C championship was the first title won by the club in sixteen years and with the continued support of Flaherty Fuels, hopes are high that this weekend will see both teams take a step closer to adding to that championship.
