JUNIOR A HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP
Raheen Hurlers pulled off a fantastic win last Friday evening as they saw off the challenge of neighbours and parish rivals Killeigh in their Junior A Championship encounter in Killeigh on a scoreline of 1-09 to 1-08 making it 2 wins in row for Raheen showing how well they are able to compete at this higher grade. Killeigh opened the scoring with a point from a 65 inside the first minute but Raheen then got off the mark with 2 pointed frees from Jason Hassett. In the 7th minute Killeigh re-took the lead by scoring their goal when a free in midfield was lobbed into the square where it got a slight deflection to deceive the Raheen defence and dribble to the net. The remainder of the half then saw both sides add 2 pointed frees and a point from play apiece with the Raheen efforts from Jason Hassett (2) and Cathal Maher. This saw Killeigh go into the break with a 2 point lead 1-04 to 0-05. In the opening 10 minutes of the second half Raheen scored another 2 points from Paddy Rigney and Jason Hassett with side of another point fro Killeigh from a placed ball. Then in the 12th minute Raheen got the boost they were looking for when a sideline ball between the 45 and 65 lines taken by Jason Hassett was lobbed into the square dropping to the ground causing an intense goalmouth scramble with Cathal Maher just getting the room to flick his shot over the line to the net which put Raheen back in front by 2 points. Thereafter the remainder of the game was all about the free taking ability of both sides with Killeigh adding 3 pointed frees but also missing about the same number as Raheen's Jason Hassett converted 2 frees ensuring Raheen held on to claim the win by the minimum margin.

U16 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
Na Fianna U16 Footballers are right in contention to claim a Championship semi final spot after comprehensively seeing off the challenge of Clara in their penultimate match of the group stage last Friday evening on a scoreline of 7-11 to 4-04. Na Fianna got off to the perfect start as Jason Dunne and Ronan Crombie fired in a goal apiece inside the first 4 minutes. Na Fianna then kicked over 3 points in a row from Jason Dunne, Niall Dempsey and Shane Hyland before Liam Guinan dispatched their 3rd goal in the 11th minute which was followed immediately by a point from Ronan Crombie. Clara finally got off the mark with the opening point in the 19th minute but Na Fianna responded 5 minutes later with Luke Dunne shooting their 4th goal. Clara finished out the half by adding 2 points which saw Na Fianna go into the break holding a commanding lead of 4-04 to 0-03. Any thoughts by Na Fianna of a stroll to the finish were wiped out within 5 minutes of the restart as Clara got through to score 2 goals. Na Fianna then got their game back on track as over the next 10 minutes Ronan Crombie blasted a goal and a point along with points from Niall Dempsey (2), Richie Reynolds and Jason Dunne. In the 17th minute Na Fianna had a short period of complaceny as Clara again got in to dispatch 2 goals within a minute. Na Fianna went straight down the field where Liam Guinan was on hand to fire in their 6th goal which was followed shortly afterward by another point from Ronan Crombie. In the 27th minute Na Fianna sub Aaron Pierce made his presence be known as he blasted in the 7th goal and a minute later he sent over their final point. Clara did complete the scoring with a point a minute from the end but it was a long way from having any bearing on the outcome of the game which Na Fianna had long since wrapped up.
