Shamrocks GAA Notes
July 27, 2010
Have Fun and Be Cul:
The Camp will take place in MUCKLAGH from the 9th August to 13th August from Monday to Friday, 10.00am to 2.30pm.
The Cul Camps are one of the best ways for boys and girls to begin playing hurling and football, where they will encounter an environment based around skills, teamwork and fun. They are also a means by which kids already playing our national games can showcase their talents in front of inter-county senior stars.
Instruction is provided by expert coaches from around Offaly and beyond, and a famous face or two from the world of Gaelic Games are sure to be seen during the camp.
Each registered child will receive the Cul Camps kit, which includes a jersey, shorts, socks and bag.
Prices for the week are as follows:
1 Child: EUR 55
2 Children: EUR 100
3 Children: EUR 135
Lotto:
The winning numbers in this week's draw were 1, 19, 20 and 29. There were no match three winners so next week's match three winners will win or share €400. Next week's draw will take place in the Kelly's Roadhouse and the jackpot will be €8 200.
Pitch Advertising:
We are presently asking any Business that is interested in advertising around Mucklagh Pitch and Stand to get in touch with the Chairman - Denis Condron or the Secretary - John Mollin.
This is a very cheap and effective form of advertising.
SHC:
The senior hurlers suffered a heavy defeat to Birr on Friday night last. All players are asked to attend training on appointed nights.
Well done to Lusmagh club for having the pitch in such splendid condition.
Junior Hurling:
On Saturday evening last the junior hurlers were defeated by Edenderry on a score line of 3-16 to 3-06. Aidan Flaherty scored a hat-trick of goals however it was not enough. Mark Mc Loughlin stood out for Shamrocks in his first game at adult level for the club.
Team: N Darcy, D Smyth, R Bryant, G Keyes, L Mollen, A Condron, C Kearney, M McLoughlin, S Heffernan, B Tyrell, T Darcy, K Mooney, D O Dwyer, A Flaherty, A Foster.

Shamrock Ladies News:
Shamrocks under 10 girls played Clara in the league last week. While they had good performances throughout the field Clara still proved too strong for the girls.
The under 13's also played Clara in the league. Shamrocks got off to a great start scoring 3-02 in the first half. The girls continued the strong performance and won well over Clara. Well done girls!
Shamrocks juniors played St Rynagh's in the Championship also last week and after a tough game St Rynagh's proved to be the stronger team.
Sympathies:
The club would like to extend its sympathies to the Daly family Tullamore on the recent death of Shane.

Under 10 Hurling Skills:
There was another good attendance at last Thursday's hurling skills, despite the damp weather. Conor Gibbons was the week's winner of the 'Most Improved Player' cert.
The likes of Mark Grennan, Aaron Lambe and Jack Hennessy are making steady progress and moving up the leader board.
Nice to see Brian Carroll back after his holiday and scoring well. Mark Buckley and Martin Looby have also jumped back into the top five.

Colin Dunne Hurling Skills:
The Dunne family, Roscore, have kindly donated trophies for a hurling skills competition for under 10's, 12's and under 14's.
The U10s have been practicing their frees, line cuts, long pucks etc over a number of weeks.
The U12s have been informed of the details but word may not yet have reached the U 14s.
Though originally intended for July, the competition would probably work better towards the end of August when players are back off holidays. There are trophies for each individual year between 9 and 14, which will give all players a fair chance. The competition is being run in memory of Shamrocks star man, Colin, and sincere thanks to Tom, Bernie and Ciara whose kind gesture has made this Summer's hurling more interesting for a lot of young hurlers.
Under 12 Hurling League:
The A and B Finals of the u12 League are not being forgotten. With so many on holidays teams would be too depleted at the moment. Late August again maybe!
