GALLEN CS WIN JUNIOR VOCATIONAL SCHOOLS TITLE

Congratulations to Gallen Community School who secured their first ever Leinster Junior Vocational Schools championship on Monday with a hard fought 0-13 to 0-11 win over St. Peter's College of Dunboyne. Gallen had previously won a Junior schools title in 2003, but this was the college's first success at this age group in the Vocational Grade. Dunboyne were the third Meath team to be beaten by Gallen in their successful run, but there will be no rest for the young players as they must now prepare for their All Ireland Semi Final against St. Brogan's college of Bandon in Cashel on Friday.

The Gallen team who took part in Monday's game was:
Dylan Buckley; James Nally, Kieran Cahill, Stephen Wren; Stefan McRedmond, Darragh Corbett, PJ Kidney; Leon Fox (0-3), Brian Grehan (0-2); Joe Maher (0-3); Eoghan Lowry (0-3), Keith Hamilton; Ryan Delaney (0-2), John Dooley, Mikey Butler. Subs used were Darragh Keenaghan and Brian Gilligan.

Congratulations to all players involved, and to the management team of Kieran Doyle, Fran Mulhall, Adrian Gaffey and Michael Lowry. Best wishes also to Joe Maher who sustained a serious shoulder injury in the game, all in Ferbane club wish him a speedy recovery and congratulate him on his crucial part in the school's success.

Best of luck also goes out to the school as they look to continue their momentum in Cashel on Friday afternoon.

FIXTURES
The first league fixtures of the year are fixed for this weekend, with both the seniors and juniors in action. The Seniors make their first appearance of the season at home against Edenderry, currently scheduled for 4pm, while the Juniors are also at home against Tullamore at 12 noon on Sunday. A big turnout is requested and all support is encouraged as both teams look to get the club off to the best possible start in 2010.†

TRAINING
Training continues this Wednesday night at 8pm in the field for all adult grades. Whether you will be lining out at Senior, Junior A or Junior B in 2010, it's well worth getting down to the field and getting back in the footballing habit. Rumours of fitness tests and other such strenuous activity are being vigorously denied by the management team and all footballers are assured that a gentle reintroduction to the season will be afforded to everyone.

CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations to West Offaly Lions who won the Connacht Junior 1B league in the best possible fashion, securing a bonus point win away to title rivals Creggs last Sunday.
