DIV 2 FOOTBALL LEAGUE SEMI FINAL
Raheen Intermediate Footballers are one step away from playing top flight league football next year as they qualified for the Final of Div 2 Football League after defeating their old nemesis Tubber in the semi-final last Saturday evening in Durrow on a scoreline of 2-07 to 1-09. The first 15 mins was played in an absolute downpour and it was Tubber who were better able to adapt to the conditions as they opened their account with 4 points without reply before Raheen got off the mark with a point from Paddy Rigney in the 15th minute as conditions cleared overhead. Tubber replied with 2 more points over the next 5 minutes. Then in the 27th minute Raheen got right back into the game when a breakaway move from a line ball inside their own half saw Paddy Rigney pick up the ball inside the last line of defence to run through and blast the ball to the back of the net for the opening goal. Over the remaining 5 minutes played in the first half Raheen tapped on 2 points from Danny McEvoy and Paddy Rigney which saw the sides go in at the break level 1-03 to 0-06. Tubber were first off the mark in the second half with a point inside the first minute but Raheen came back and went in front for the first time with 2 points in a row over the next 15 minutes from Danny McEvoy (2). In the 16th minute Tubber were reduced to 14 men when their no 12 was sent off after receiving a second yellow card and a minute later from the resultant free they suffered another blow with Raheen scoring their second goal when the free taken by Paddy Rigney almost on the sideline was lobbed in high bounced in the square and over the head of the keeper into the back of the net. Raheen followed it up with a point from Danny McEvoy within a minute. In the 21st minute Tubber were awarded a penalty which was dispatched to the right corner of the net by Ciaran McManus to reduce their defecit to 2 points. Raheen had the margin back up to 3 points in the 27th minute with what would prove to be their last point from Paddy Rigney. Tubber came back with 2 points over the next 5 minutes to reduce the margin to the minimum but over the remaining 3 minutes of injury time played Raheen managed to hold on to take the win.

HURLING LEAGUE
Raheen Hurlers sealed their place in the Final of the Div 4 Hurling League with a game to spare after defeating neighbours Gracefield last Monday evening in Geashill on a scoreline of 1-11 to 1-06. Raheen were first off the mark with 2 points in a row from Jason Hassett followed by a pointed free for Gracefield all within the first 5 minutes. Then in the 8th minute Raheen were awarded a free out around the 65m line which was taken quickly by Paddy Rigney and lobbed in high to the edge of the square where it was caught by Jason Hsassett who turned and blasted a shot to the net for a goal. The game then remained scoreless until Gracefield got their second point in the 17th minute but Raheen replied with 2 more points over the next 5 minutes from Jason Hassett and Paddy Rigney and this is how it remained at half time with Raheen leading by 1-04 to 0-02.The first 10 minutes of the second half were evenly matched with both sides adding 4 points apiece with the Raheen efforts from Paddy Rigney (2), Brian Kennedy and Ciaran Direen. Surprisingly the game then remained scoreless until Raheen hit over their final 3 points in a 5 minute spell from the 21st minute on with the scores from Paddy Rigney(2) and Daniel Plunkett.
