June 16, 2009
Shamrocks Notes 17th June 2009 Lotto: The numbers drawn in this week's draw were 1, 13, 14 and 28. There were 3 match 3 winners who each receive 70. The winners were: Pat Kearney (P Kearney), Karen Malone (John Kearney) and Laura Keyes (Ger Keyes). Next weeks draw will take place in Kelly's Roadhouse with a jackpot of 7 800. This is well worth a punt!! Senior Hurling League: On Saturday evening last in Mucklagh the senior hurlers had a good win over Lusmagh on a sore-line of 1-20 to 0-9. Shamrocks had some excellent performances throughout the field in a good display of teamwork. Team: S Molloy, K Mollen, J Conway, D Conroy, A Kidney, K Cummins, E Comerford, M Conroy, Daragh Minnock, B Monaghan, B Kearney, N Coughlan, K Grennan, N Dunne, S Cunningham Subs used: D Molloy, Damien Minnock, A Condron, Endnote: In a good sporting game, the referee somehow managed to feel the need to send off one player from each side in what can only be described as ridiculous decisions. SFL semi final v Walsh Island: After a poor display on Sunday evening Shamrocks senior footballers went down on a score-line of 1-16 to 0-13. However it must be stated that championships are not won in June and there is plenty of time to recover from this. See match report elsewhere Junior Hurling: The junior hurlers played Killurin on Friday evening last and were unlucky not to get something from the game. The final score was 2-12 to 2-11, Team: N Darcy, J McEvoy, D Minnock, M Brady, D Heffernan, A Kidney, L Mollen, M Conroy, Daragh Minnock, D Buckley, A Condron, K Grennan, R Kelly, A Flaherty, K Mooney. Subs used: B Tyrell, P Guinan Sympathies: The club would like to express its deepest sympathies to the Condron family, Lynally on the death of Alice recently. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam. ` Shamrocks Underage and Feile U12 Hurling: The under 12 hurlers made a bad start against Edenderry on Saturday last and were losing 2-4 to 0-01 at half time. However a much improved second half saw them scoring three unanswered goals in a great comeback to leave the final score 3 -01 to 2-04. Feile: This weekend sees the Feile return to Laois/Offaly, for the second year in a row, following the success of last year's event. It should be a great weekend of hurling in the area culminating in the Leinster SHC match between Kilkenny and Galway. The action begins on Friday afternoon in Mucklagh where Shamrocks, Four Roads (Roscommon), Lixnaw (Kerry) and Tinnahinch (Laois) will play their games over the Friday and Saturday (see fixtures) and aspire to reach the finals which will be played in O Connor Park, Tullamore. The parade will take place on Friday evening in Birr at 6.30pm Friday June 19th: Shamrocks v Four Roads, 3.00 Saturday June 20th: Shamrocks v Lixnaw, 10.00am Tinnahinch v Four Roads, 11.00am Lixnaw v Four Roads, 12.15pm Shamrocks v Tinnahinch, 1.15pm Shamrocks Ladies: The juniors are in action in the League semi final against Rhode on this evening (Wednesday) in Ballinagar at 8.00pm. All support for this would be appreciated. The under 12's played Rhode in Mucklagh last week, and whilst there were some great displays by the local ladies, Rhode proved to be the better team on the day. Note a change in the under 14 training: Training is now on Wednesdays from 5 until 6. For more details contact Anne on 08603830203
