November 07, 2008
Following an investigation into unsavoury incidents that occurred during a MFC match between Edenderry and St Vincent's, the Offaly County Board has come down hard on both clubs. A row broke out near the end of the semi final clash between the sides as supporters, players and mentors became embroiled in what can only be described as a mass brawl. The county board set up and investigation committee and they have fined both clubs ?5,000 with four people from the Edenderry club and one from St Vincent's receiving lengthy suspensions. However, the disciplinary committee have stated that the fixture must be replayed with the winners going through to the final where they will meet Tullamore.
