Monaghan manager Malachy O'Rourke has stressed that his number one priority is to have all his players ready for the NFL Division One opener against rivals Tyrone.

There is just over a week to go to the start of this year's NFL and O'Rourke told the Northern Standard that the aim was to have as many players ready for that game as possible.

"The intention would be that we would have a full squad to pick from or as near as possible to a full squad for the first league match," said O'Rourke.

"Our intention is that we nurse the lads through who are carrying injuries and have them at least available to us in two weeks time. There are a lot of lads there on the panel who are working hard, we've got a good look at everybody over the McKenna Cup which is what we wanted, so it's a case now that we will have to sit down and look at everything and cut the panel down a bit and see who makes the cut and who doesn't and move forward from that."
