Rossies overcome hurlers with ease

NICKY RACKARD CUP.

Roscommon 2-15
Monaghan 0-9.

Roscommon experienced little difficulty in opening their Nicky Rackard Cup with a win against an out of sorts Monaghan in this low key, scrappy affair in Inniskeen.

Roscommon led by 2-7 to 0-4 at half time, Ronan O'Meara and Cillian Egan with the goals, and by that stage too Monaghan's cause wasn't helped when they were reduced to 14 men just before the break following the second yellow card dismissal of Sean Leonard. In the second half Roscommon were rarely troubled by the home side as they closed out victory with relative ease.
