Door open for shock Freeman return

Tommy Freeman could be in line for a sensational return to the Monaghan colours this summer.

The former All Star attacker hasn't made himself available for the Farney County so far in 2014 but manager Malachy O'Rourke insists that the Magheracloone veteran has not retired from county football.

Freeman lofted over the last point of last year's sensational Ulster final victory over Donegal and it remains to be seen if that will prove to be the last act of his illustrious intercounty career. According to Monaghan boss O'Rourke, the door remains very much open:

"Tommy hasn't come back yet," the Fermanagh man says in The Irish News. "He definitely hasn't retired.

"We haven't really been able to get in contact with him over this last while. I suppose with work and family circumstances and so on, he just hasn't been able to give the commitments so far.

"We probably haven't given up hope yet, even now. Tommy always keeps himself in good shape, so you never know. We'll not close the door on him anyway."
