Tadhg Campbell scored a hat-trick of goals as Monaghan overcame the hurdle of Sligo in the Nicky Rackard Cup at Inniskeen.

Left corner forward Campbell raised two green flags in as many minutes early on and Sean Leonard added a third in the 26th minute to boost the Farney County into a 3-5 to 1-3 half-time lead.

Aidan Morrison netted Sligo's goal but their cause wasn't helped by having a player sent off in each half.

Aidan Cawley was shown two yellow cards in the first half while Colin Herity received a straight red after the resumption.

Conor McKenna added Monaghan's fourth goal before Campbell completed his hat-trick. Tweet
