Corduff club notes
August 31, 2010
Under 12 Final: Pride of place this week goes to our Under 12 team who takes on Clontibret in the division 2 final this Saturday. This team has given their loyal band of supporters' great games throughout the year also showing great signs of the future footballers of Corduff. So all roads leads to Cremartin this Saturday for a 2.15 throw in, when we try and bring back the first piece of silverware to Corduff this year.
Junior Football Championship: We take on Killeevan tomorrow evening Friday in Emyvale at 8.15 under lights. Please come along and support as we try to book our place in the Junior Football Championship
What a Monday: Last Monday was a great night for the Corduff Club first our under 14 kicked off at 6.45 when we took on Tyholland in Corduff in the semi final of the Shield. After entering the final quarter being 3 points down the Corduff's Management team talk worked and they came out all a different team in the final quarter. With great defending from our trusty backs and the score power of our classy forwards Corduff went on to run out winners. We now booked our place in the Final; at time of going to press opposition was not known. Then it was our minors turn when they took on high flying St Pats a combination of Ballybay and Drumhowan in the semi final of the division 2 championship. This was a close encounter throughout, St Pats got off the mark first but Corduff responded brilliantly taking the lead, with great defending with Corduff Backs and our midfield hard work we went in leading by a point at half time. After the break St Pats went two points ahead until the Corduff Forwards responded brilliantly registering four unanswered pints. Coming into the closing minutes Corduff lead by 3, in the fourth minute of injury time Corduff added another leaving the final score Corduff 1-15 St Pats 3-05. We now book our place in the Division 2 Championship Final, this is a great achievement for this small group of players and management.
Date for your Diary: Our Minor football League final has been fixed for Saturday the 11th of September at 4pm. Venue to be confirmed.
Upcoming Fixtures: On Sunday 12th we take on Cremartin in the Junior league in Cremartin at 12.30.Then on Saturday 18th we welcome Blackhill to Corduff for a 5.00 throw in.
Under 16 League: Last Thursday we took on Donaghmoyne in the Championship , unfortunately we came out on the wrong side of the victory. This team is a credit to Corduff Club as they took part in a very strong division with 14 teams in Division 2, we were very limited with numbers but our players gave 110% in every game. These boys shown great dedication and commitment at training and while representing their club. On behalf of the Corduff club I would like to thank the players and Management you for the many enjoyable games throughout the year.
