Freeman DRA appeal rejected

Monaghan's Tommy Freeman
Monaghan star Tommy Freeman has failed in his last-ditch attempt to have his eight-week suspension overturned ahead of this evening's All-Ireland football qualifier against Armagh at Clones. Freeman appeared before the Disputes Resolution Authority in Navan last night, but his case was thrown out by the arbitrary body, which means the former All-Star will not only miss today's game, but also the next two rounds of the All-Ireland qualifiers should Monaghan progress. It goes without saying that the star forward, who was banned following an incident involving Kevin McGuckin during the Farney County's ill-tempered Ulster SFC defeat to Derry on May 24, will be a huge loss to Seamus McEnaney's side as they attempt to get their season up-and-running again.
