CAC don't hear Freeman appeal

Monaghan's Tommy Freeman
Tommy Freeman must seek a DRA hearing in a last-ditch attempt to play for Monaghan against Armagh on Saturday after his latest appeal was not heard by the CAC last night. The former All-Star forward received an eight-week ban following an incident involving Kevin McGuckin during Monaghan's Ulster SFC defeat to Derry on May 24, and faces the prospect of missing three rounds of the All-Ireland qualifiers. The Monaghan county board are expected to initiate proceedings today to ensure that Freeman's case is heard by the GAA's arbitration body before Saturday's big local derby clash in Clones. At a meeting of the Central Appeal's Committee held in Croke Park an appeal from Freeman could not be heard, as it is not possible to appeal against the decision to commence disciplinary action, in accordance with Rule 155 (c) (iii) T.O. 2008.
