All Ireland Hopes

(Oldest Posts First)

Does Anyone think we can win the all Ireland in the next few years? seriously.. i think tyrone have changed football forever and we will be well below the top 10 teams in the Country for the next 5 years. When is the last time we won leinster? its starting to get embarressing? The fact is we have no one at club level to match the men of tyrone or even dublin (dare i say it), who can keep pace with cavannagh? Joe Mcmahon? and the likes of brian mcguigan..and tyrone are pumping out all-irelands. senior and minor says it all, and everyone on the tyrone senior team had all ireland minor and 21 medals already. whats striking to me is we have no style of football, no underage success and no decent manager wants to touch us.. i do be reading messages of ''meath all ireland champions in waiting'' when the fact is it just aint gona happen wake up!!.. ill be at the senior final and ill be looking out for anyone who has the class to match the best..and i dont think ill see any!

im not being negative, just realistic....

what does the rest of meath think?

in all honestly - i think you're a bit of a clown harry..

this great tyrone team that you are harping on about didnt look too great in August 2007 when we beat them now did they?

12 months is nothing in football.

would you at least wait until you see how the new manager fares during the league before you start spouting like that??

im not saying that we are going to win anything next year - but considering that our minor teams got to the AI semi final in two of the last three years and that we have a new manager coming on board - you're comments appear ridiculous to me

I think people forget that our minor team were neck and neck with Tyrone in the games against them before the semi-final. Whatever went wrong that day.

We don't stand a chance unless something drastic is done by the county board, half the bloody teenagers in the county aren't playing gaa anymore and could you blame them? Its far too time comsuming, theres heaps of restrictions put on them (particularly their personal lives) and at the end of the day all they're playing for is love honour and pride, now how much money can you make from that these days?

Get ready for a long barren spell in meath football ladies and gents, we wouldn't be the first giants to dissappear without a trace, it happened to Cavan and its happening to us. Il finish off by saying that i sincerely hope im wrong about this.

I dont think Tyrone and Kerry lads were asking themselves that!! Sure Sean Cavanagh turned down the AFL and its looking like Kyle Coney will do to. Does playing for the county, winning Sam, playing our national games in front of 80,000 mean nothing to kids in Meath? I'd give my first born to play for Meath. Perhaps this our recent prosperity has killed of any desire in the younger generation to pursue anything that doesnt yield monetary returns. Sad days indeed if its true. Here's hoping its not the case.

I think that is the case unfortunitly LoyalRoyal, theres too much to do round here these days which is not a bad thing but GAA has suffered because of it. Im 20 and i don't play GAA anymore but i have an alibi in the form of a back injury, but theres plenty of lads my age who gave up and went on the sauce.
