Who do you think should be the Meath manager?

Rumour is that Andy McEntee is favourite to land it after the interview process... seemingly he made a very big impression with his proposals.
The CB might take a chance, look at a 3 year plan and build for the future.

.... delayed! That's what.
Looks like there is some more thinking to be done ... I can't see either of the outsiders getting it though.
Even McGrath - what's he going to do travel from Rostrevor every night? Even at that he's employed by sportstracker ... not going to happen.
Odd's are it's not going to be O'Brien now

There must be a problem with Eamonn O'Brien as if he was getting the job surely they would be anouncing it tonight, especially having saved Rathkenny from relegation yesterday, he only has league to focus on for Rathkenny now. I can only presume that the county board has either decided that O'Brien isn't the man for the job or else O'Brien doesn't want it and we are back to square one!

Ah decided that it wasn't for me. The county board showed no ambition. They are stuck in the 80's. It'll take more than me to bring back the glory years. we need a complete over haul in Meath. FACT.

Who knows at this stage, it would be nice if the County Board kept us fans even slightly informed of what is going on. Even if they told us who the nominations were instead of us hearing speculation from the papers!

The job is Eamon O'Briens....that's official. All these other interviews are a pile of poo. It's pure typical of the county board, messing around and prolonging the whole thing. And Donal Curtis will be one of his selectors, and the other????? Well rumoured to be Bob O'Malley....

O Brien has hit a sandbank,as the Co.Board and Pete McGrath are in a headlock. If McGrath cant agree terms,O Brien will be offered the post, but he may not now be interested seeing as he is the second choice.

I heard from a leading member of the Meath Supporters Club that an announcement is not expected until the first week of October. Apparently the county board are trying to persuade Pete McGrath to take the job. It may not be true but who knows...

not a bad record by anyones standards........

Pete McGrath has a most impressive record as a coach and Manager, having first come to national prominence as part of the backroom team that helped guide St. Colman's of Newry, Co. Down to two All-Ireland Colleges titles in 1986 and 1988. He was also involved with Hogan Cup successes in 1993 and 1988 with the Newry College, where he was a member of teaching staff before his retirement in 2005/6.

In 1987 he guided Down to only their second ever All-Ireland Minor title and was appointed manager of their Senior team in 1989. He enjoyed outstanding success in the early nineties leading Down to two memorable All-Ireland victories in 1991 and 1994 before finally stepping down as manager of the County after the 2002 Championship. Pete was the Irish Manager for the International Rules Series of 2004 and 2005.

His first ever club was Cooley Kickhams where he spent two very successful years winning the first League title in fourteen years and bringing the club to their first Championship Final in fifteen years. Pete is now with An Riocht, Co Down and is the Down U21 Manager for the 2007 season.

Hypothetically speaking,if Eammon o Brien gets the Meath managers job and names bob o Malley as a selector, fine. To name Donal Curtis a selector, not a good move,in my opinion.Dont get me wrong,a fine club footballer but was only really a bit part player with the Meath team of the late ninetys and early noughties.IN many of them Meath sides he played in I would actully have considered him the weakest link.I would be sure that he would not command the respect of the dressing room.
I dont know,I just cant get excited about any of the names mentioned in relation to the job.The last time I felt like this was the time of the appointment of the Ireland soccer manager and at the eleventh hour, from out of the blue came the appointment of Giovanni Trapitonni.May be there is a shock waiting around the corner for us...FORZA VERDI!!!
