Clonard 3-17Boardsmill 1-6Clonard captured the U-16 Div 4 football championship with a convincing victory over Boardsmill in Longwood. When Adrian Boland scored his first point in the second minute there was no stopping him as he finished with 2-7 to his name. Clonard finished the half strongly with further points from Dan Darby, Darren McNevin and Peter McNevin to leave the half-time score 1-8 to 0-3.Clonard started the second-half just as they finished the first with a well taken penalty from Adrian Boland followed by a superb goal from sub Jason Maguire. Boardsmill responded and got the goal they needed but their game plan was upset when one of their players was stretchered off. The Clonard side produced an impressive all-round performance under the guidance of their trainer former county player Kevin Foley.
