Cortown's Glen Loughran outfields Oldcastles Vincent Reynolds during the Meath IFC at Ballinlough
A draw was probably a fitting result in this hard fought I.F.C. game played in the sweltering heat in Ballinlough on Sunday. Cortown 2-8 Oldcastle 1-11 Both teams had the chance of victory in added on time when first Gordon Codd Cortown spilled the ball at one end and Oldcastle immediately went upfield to miss a scoreable free. The first half was played in a welter of excitement with 18 scores, of which 16 were from open play. Some of the scores on both sides were of a very high standard. The scoring rate dropped dramatically in the second half when each team only managed 2 scores each. However the standard of marking and effort expended ensured a tense exciting struggle until the final whistle. The game was played in a most sporting fashion with hits given and taken in the proper spirit which made Referee Gerry O'Briens task an easy one. Best for Cortown were John McGearty, Glen Loughran, Gordon Codd, Micheal Reilly and Daragh O'Halloran. Cortown - J. McFadden; D. Coyne, D. O'Halloran, P. Kerrigan; J. Casserly, J. Fagan, J.
