P.Elliott boosts Trim

November 30, 2007
Trim's growing status as one of the Royal Countys most significant towns will be enhanced by the genesis of Trim Sports & Leisure Centre, a spectacular new facility which is being developed on behalf of Meath County Council and Trim Town Council by P Elliott & Company, one of Ireland's leading construction and property development firms. In keeping with the trend nationwide, the face of Trim is changing at a rapid rate. The town is unrecognisable now from a decade ago and the same comment will no doubt be applicable ten years down the line. Simply put, Trim is a modern and vibrant urban centre and the input of celebrated national building contractor P Elliott & Company will ensure that this remains the case. In 2008, Trim Sports & Leisure Centre will throw its doors open to the public, greatly improving the choice of social services and amenities available to the people of the town and its hinterland. Located adjacent to Trim GAA pitch and within a stones throw of the newly-decentralised OPW head office, this promises to be a fantastic facility for the town, and the involvement of one of the countrys best renowned construction specialists will ensure that the project is completed to the very highest possible standard, thereby standing the test of time as a veritable jewel in Trims crown. P Elliott & Company was established 65 years ago by the eponymous Patrick Elliott and was then handed down to Noel Elliott Snr. and his brothers. Today, the third-generation family business is in the hands of Noel Snrs sons - Darragh, Mark and Noel Jnr. The current directors have garnered extensive experience in terms of leisure centre development over the years. They recently completed Monaghan Leisure Centre for Monaghan County Council and are currently building another one in Tullamore. P. Elliott & Company has also constructed Swords Leisure Centre, Total Fitness in Castleknock and West Park Fitness Centre, to name a few. Work commenced on Trim Sports & Leisure Centre on May 28 2007 and Elliotts hope to hand the keys over to the client in early September 2008. The comprehensive project with comprise: a 25-metre swimming pool with a kids area, boasting all the latest decorative features; outstanding leisure facilities including a gymnasium and aerobics rooms; an in-door sports hall with specialist soft flooring, which will be ideal for basketball, soccer, volleyball and maybe even a bout of indoor hurling; and two outdoor astro-turf five-a-side soccer pitches. The centre will be finished with high-quality landscaping and external facilities, with ample car parking space provided for the customer's convenience. A number of specialist facilities will be provided. The main structure is in-situ concrete and Glulam roof beams are being used in the pool hall to guarantee protection and longevity against the harsh environment created by the presence of chlorine and other chemicals. "We will also offer a soft, high-quality appearance to the pool hall, as designed by the architect," Darragh Elliott continues. "The plans also include a large changing village with showers and this area is tiled to the highest specifications to provide the greatest level of comfort possible." Darragh says it has been a joy to work with the clients and the team of designers on the contract: "We're delighted to be associated with both Meath County Council and Trim Town Council, along with the various members of the design team," he confirms. "The client has assembled a design team that is second to none and that makes the job all the more enjoyable. We're delighted to be working with them." At the time of writing, P Elliott & Company had 40 of its crew on site in Trim as well as seven members of the management team. Darragh predicts that there could be up to 120 personnel on site when the contract is at its busiest peak. As well as their remarkable track record in the construction/development field, the Elliott family is also steeped in GAA tradition. Darragh's uncle Aidan played in goals for the Breffni County and his cousin Eoghan followed suit. They are keen Cavan followers but Meath gaels will no doubt forgive them that slight discrepancy once Trim Sports & Leisure Centre comes to fruition! P. Elliott & Company was founded in Cavan in 1942 and has grown into one of Ireland's leading construction and property development firms, with a portfolio of construction and development projects which bear out its success. The company is proud of its comprehensive portfolio of medium and large scale building and property development projects, across the commercial, industrial, retail, leisure and public sector spectrums.
