Gerry Reilly
Gerry was killed tragically in December 87 at 16 years of age, and he had already proved to be a great footballer with huge potential to go on to great heights in the game. Go ndeanamh Dia trocaire ar a anam.
We are very grateful to Gerry s parents, Al (R.I.P.) and Claire, who kindly donated the cup for this competition. The competition has proved a great success in providing a platform to launch inter-county football careers.
This year is no exception with Dublin crowned Leinster Champions and Cavan through in the All-Ireland Qualifiers, with many of the Cavan and Dublin teams having played here in the Gerry Reilly FT. We wish them every success in their endeavours to capture the All-Ireland title.

A large crowd saw Meath making it 2 in a row in the final of the Gerry Reilly FT when they defeated Cavan played in slippery conditions after the earlier heavy rain. Willie Milner s point narrowed the gap and a Meath counter attack so Declan Reilly finishing the move to the Cavan net. AJ Gilsenan added a point for Meath before fast moving, Cian Mackey pulled one back for Cavan. Chris Carney pointed >from a free to stretch Meath s lead and then Declan Reilly got his second goal for Meath, again the result of a counter attack by Meath. Cavan s Shane Reilly got the final score of the half with a point from a free.
