Duleek/Bellewstown 2-8 Skryne 1-13

Duleek/Bellewstown entertained Skryne in this Div 2A league clash in a floodlit Duleek on Saturday 25 March 2017. 

In what was a good night for football both teams put in a very determined effort with Skryne running out 2 point winners at the end of a very enjoyable exhibition of gaelic games.

The home side ran into an early lead with points from Conal McGinley (2, 1 from a free) and Johnny Flood (free). However, Skryne were level by the end of the first quarter and went on a bit of a run latching on 5 additional points during their purple patch. Duleek/Bellewstown were guilty of squandering some very good chances and their only other score was a point from Johnny McDonnell in the 18th minute, failing to score for the remainder of the first half.

Two early points at the start of the 2nd half from the hard working Johnny Flood narrowed the gap only for Skryne to reply with two points of their own. Darren Heeney scored a good point after 40 mins before a broken centre was latched on to by Robin Clarke won dribbled the ball soccer style past a couple of Skryne backs and rifled to the back of the net for a great solo effort and draw the game.

Flood again pointed before netting himself for Duleek/Bellewstown to go 3 points clear with 11 minutes remaining. Skryne, however, finished stronger and with an unanswered 1.02 between the 25th and 27th minutes built up a 2 point lead they were not to lose.

Duleek/Bellewstown did have a couple of late chances as they went on the hunt for a winning goal, without success.
