FL Div 2: First points on the board for Ballinabrackey

February 20, 2017

Ballinabrackey's Damien Carroll

Ballinabrackey 1-13 Ballinlough 1-8

The 19th of February saw the resumption of Meath League football and Ballinabrackey played host to Ballinlough on a damp Sunday.

Underfoot conditions made football difficult and made summer football seem very far away. Considering the conditions Ballinlough were first to get on the scoreboard.

Ballinabrackey began to gain a stronghold of midfield and tagged on some great team scores with Dean McNamee grabbing a goal near the end of the half leaving Ballinabrackey with a 5 point lead.

Upon the resumption both teams traded blow for blow with some early scores with Ballinabrackey keeping the lead at 5. The Bracks had a lead of 9 points at one stage only for Ballinlough to pull it back to 4 with a goal and some quick points. They were also lucky not to have another goal.

Peader Byrne was accurate from frees and kept the game interesting. Damien Carroll maintained possession around the middle of the field over the last 10 minutes to see the game out with Danny Quinn and Andrew Munnelly adding some final scores to leave the game with a final score line of 1-13 to 1-8.

Up next for Ballinabrackey is a trip to Curraha next Sunday.
