Trim 5-3 Castletown 1-11

Castletown went down to their third defeat from 5 games in Div 2 league with this 4 point defeat to Trim in a sunny but cold Wednesday evening.

It's true what they say that goals win games with the home side scoring 5 in this match. The visitors starting 15 were without 4 of their starting first round championship 15 but had the better start and were two points up after 6 minutes. But in the 7th minute with Trims first attack they scored their first goal. Castletown then kicked on again and scored 4 unanswered point to lead by 4 points at the 20th minute mark. Trim then recorded their second and last score of the first period on 22 minutes to leave it 1-1 to six points for Castletown at the break

Castletown first half scorers Joey Carry 0-2 and 1 point each for James Finnerty, Darren Finney, Stephen Duffy and Kevin Ross.

Castletown again started the second half well and scored the first two points of the period. But then Trim took over and started their goal rush which seen  Castletown go behind by 5 points. In fairness to Castletown they fought back to within a point of Trim but then another couple  of defensive lapses let the home team in for two more goals. Castletown tried to recover from that but could not get that all important goal or two to win the game.

Castletown second half scorers were Tommy Smith 1-1 Kevin Ross with 0-2 and 1 each for Robbie Hoey and Darren Finney.

Next up for Castletown is A-league Div 2 Rnd 6 against Ballinlough at the weekend.
