Walterstown lose unbeaten record

Walterstown 1-6  Gaeil Colmcille 1-8

Walterstown's promising start to the U16 League was brought to a shuddering halt by a determined Gaeil Colmcille outfit in Walterstown on a windy but bright Tues evening.

Walterstown playing with a significant wind advantage in the 1st half were 1st out of the blocks registering an early point but scores were to prove few and far between in the 1st 30mins with The Blacks squandering a number of goal opportunities one of which being a fine point blank save by the Gaeil Colmcilles keeper in a 1 on 1 situation with a Walterstown attacker resulting in a sweeping move up the pitch and the ball ending in the back of the home side's net.

In the 3rd quarter Walterstown laid siege to the Gaeil Colmcille goal but were met with a resolute defence by the visitors and were also guilty of again failing to take a number of goal and point scoring opportunities. Eventually, Walterstown did make the breakthrough and built a 2pt lead before the Gaeil Colmcille fightback began yielding 4 unanswered point in the final 7mins to give the visitors the spoils on the night in a low scoring and tense affair.
