Kilbride 3-14
Walterstown 2-5

On a warm breezy day in Simonstown, Kilbride took to the field to face Walterstown in JBFC round 4 clash.

Kilbride where looking to kick start their championship with there first victory and keep the possibility of progressing from group A alive.

Kilbride, a team that has been in transition for several years lined out with the strongest panel available to the club for the past number of seasons - a mixture of experienced players and a sprinkling of promising new talent. Playing against a strong breeze in the first half Kilbride went into the 1.1 Lead with an excellently taken goal from Connor Storey.

Walterstown steadied the ship with a solid platform around centre field and brought the score back to 1.1 to 1.0.  Walterstown looked threatening each time they entered the Kilbride half and in particular, when they played direct ball into the full forward line.

Kilbride spurned several goal scoring chances in the first half and found it hard to shake off an experienced Walterstown side. Kilbride managed to go into the break leading by 4 points but in truth should have been further ahead.

The first 15 minutes of the second half remained a tight affair before Kilbride tagged on a few scores to widen the gap. Most notable scores from Jeff Sheridan (1-2) and some excellent contributions from brother Craig helped Kilbride into a more comfortable lead. The win was sealed with a rare goal from Stephen Walsh who rattled the Walterstown net before the final whistle.

Players to catch the eye where Conor Doyle who caused havoc with his direct running and Dean Stapleton who did an excellent job at corner back. Returning from Injury Peter Roche also impressed in his comeback with David O'Leary working tirelessly in the number 10 jersey. Conor Storey & the ageless Brian White also made telling contributions.

With the heat being a factor, Kilbride where able to call upon the experience of Steve McMullen from the bench and also introduced  Johnny McIvor & Neil Ferriter.
