May 25, 2015

Rathkenny's Darren Barron

RATHKENNY 3-11
SYDDAN 1-10

Strong finishes to both halves paved the way for Rathkenny's victory over their neighbours in the Junior C at Castletown on Saturday evening.

Rathkenny notched 1-3 in the final seven minutes of the opening half to lead 1-9 to 1-3 at the break.

Then with the minimum between the teams Rathkenny outscored their opponents 2-1 to 0-1 in the last seven to end comfortable winners.

Syddan made a good start to the game with Michael Fedigan finding the net on four minutes. With Darren Barron showing good form Rathkenny fought back and were boosted by a Cathal McCabe goal in first half added time.

Rathkenny increased their lead to seven points on the restart but Syddan enjoyed their best spell after that and six successive points, including four from Conor Dillon brought them to within a point.

Ronan Curtis doubled Rathkenny's advantage  and then goals from Paul O'Brien and sub Owen O'Connor wrapped it up.
