Simonstown Ladies gained their second win in the Division 1 League with a hard fought win over Boardsmill in blustery conditions in Dunganny on Sunday evening.

Simonstown Ladies were first on the scoreboard when Kelsey Nesbitt netted following a fine passing move.  Boardsmill responded immediately with two points before Simonstown found a rhythm with five points in succession from Regina Hand, Naoise de Graaff, Kelly Harris, Eleanor Lane and Niamh Lister.  A crowded goal line skirmish saw Referee Paul Mooney award Boardsmill a penalty but the shot was superbly saved by keeper Nicole Byrne.  The Boardsmill attack failed to convert their possession as they kicked a number of wides before grabbing a goal.  A fine long range point for Boardsmill narrowed the gap to two points before Simonstown lifted the siege when Hand scored Simonstown's second goal just before the break. Simonstown Ladies were quickest out of the blocks in the second half when Nesbitt scored a second goal.  Boardsmill dominated the play thereafter and   capitalised on their possession with a goal and a point to leave four points in it.  Simonstown Ladies were then reduced to fourteen when Nesbitt received a yellow card.  With Simonstown Ladies coming under greater pressure Boardsmill were awarded a second penalty which was again saved by keeper Byrne.   A Harris point gave Simonstown a five point margin but Boardsmill were quick to make their numerical advantage pay and scored four unanswered points to leave only one point between the sides.   To their credit the Simonstown defence led by Niamh Sheridan, Aisling Sheridan and Karen Foran did not concede any further scores.  With the clock ticking down Simonstown held their nerve and finished with points from Lane and Harris to seal the victory.
