Saran O'Fionnagain Wolfe Tones

Wolfe Tones 7-12
St Colmcilles 1-8

Wolfe Tones bounced back from defeat by Trim two days earlier to earn their first points of the campaign against an under strength St Colmcilles side.

The game was evenly contested for much of the first half. Wolfe Tones Sarán O Fionnagain opened the scoring with a point in the 8th minute which was followed by a Caolan Ward free. However St Colmcilles hit back and hit 1  02 without reply to lead by 3 points at the end of the first quarter. Indeed they might have been further ahead but for 3 narrow wides during this period. Tones Sarán Ó Fionnagáin added 1  01 to see his side take a take a lead which they never relinquished. Gradually for the rest of the half Tones pulled away and by half time led by 4  06 to 1  04.

St Colmcilles needed a good start to the 2nd half to remain in contention but Tones made the better start and by the 35th minute had added 2  01,the point coming from Caolán Ward with Gearoid O Brien and Saran O Fionnagáin scoring the goals. This all but sealed the result in the Tones favour.
