Kiltale doubled their account with one stroke in the 17th minute when Regan netted from a 20-metre free which found a gap between the Trim defensive line and the right hand post.  Another pointed free from Regan left seven points between the teams after 23 minutes.

While Trim succeeded in preventing Kiltale from opening up a double digit lead when wind assisted, John Andrews' charges created few scoring chances in the first-half and didn't record their first wide until the 20th minute.

Kiltale put eight scoring attempts past the wrong side of the posts in the first-half while Trim had just two. By the end the winners had recorded 11 wides to their opponents' five.

There were no further scores until stoppage time when Kiltale brought their number of scorers to four with Ross Ryan and James Kelly registering to leave it 1-6 to 0-0 at the break.

Trim resumed with the wind at their backs, but passed up a couple of chances before wing back Eamon Ryan doubled his account within two and a half minutes of resumption.

Anthony Forde was on the scoresheet before Trim got off the mark through Aaron Winters' in the 37th minute to leave the board reading 0-1 to 1-8.

Trim captain James Toher added three points in an eight-minute spell. The pick of the bunch was the final one in that sequence, an over-the-shoulder effort that left the nearly scoreboard reading 1-11 to 0-4. Toher then placed James Andrews for a fine effort.

By the 56th minute, Kiltale were 10 points ahead, 1-12 to 0-5. Rory McGrath goaled for Trim in the second minute of added time with Darrell Phelan providing the assist before Toher completed the scoreboard operator's work with a pointed free.
