A five goal scoring spree in the second quarter gave Tones the platform for a convincing win in perfect conditions in Gibbstown.
Playing against the breeze Clanna Gael had weathered the early Wolfe Tones attacks and were well in touch on a score line of Tones 1-2 to Clanna Gael 0-3 after 15 minutes, the early Tones scores coming from Iarlaith O'Kelly Lynch (1-0) and Saran O Fionnagáin (0-2). However they had a mountain to climb by half time as Daniel Farrell (2-0), Saran O Fionnagáin, Iarlaith O Kelly Lynch and Oisin Mac Ghinneartaigh all added goals in the run up to half time. Half time score Wolfe Tones 6-6, Clanna Gael 0-6.
Clanna Gael aided by a strong breeze in the 2nd half opened brightly and had scored 1-4 without reply by the 40th minute. Saran O Fionnagain goal in the 45th minute steadied the ship for the Tones. Exchanges were pretty even after that point but Clanna Gael had left themselves too much to do.
