Ratoath defeated Carnaross to claim the Meath Under 16 Division 4 Summer League title at a wet Pairc Tailteann last night.

Ratoath 3-9
Carnaross 1-6

Carnaross started the brighter and had two points posted from Cian O'Reilly inside the first five minutes. Nathan Dunne and Alex Neville levelled for Ratoath before John Brogan and Dillon Fox opened up that two point lead again. The winners finished the half the stronger and were rewarded with points from Jack O'Brien, Dunne and Ryan Kelly to take a slender 0-5 to 0-4 lead at the break.

As in the first half midfielder Cian O'Reilly kicked the first score. Ratoath, through Connell Aherne and Tom McFadden, were beginning to dominate around the middle and 1-2 between the 10th and 20th minute pushed them five points ahead, the goal coming from Jack O'Brien. With the game going away from them, Carnaross needed a goal. That arrived courtesy of a well struck Dillon Fox penalty. Almost immediately Ratoath struck for their second major through full forward O'Brien. Leigh Sullivan added a third with time up and the title was heading to the Dublin border club.

The majority of the winners squad was part of the successful Under 14 squad from last year.

After the game Meath Minor Board Secretary Damien O'Reilly pressnted the Under 16 Division 4 Shield to Ratoath captain Ryan Kelly.
