Both teams came away with an important point on Wednesday night but it could have went either way in an exciting Senior Camogie Championship clash played in Batterstown. Jane Dolan led the charge for the Gaels with a bakers dozen.

The pendulum swung back and forth over the hour but a last ditch point for Na Fianna from a free meant both teams shared the points on a lovely evening for Camogie.

It was a tight game from start to finish with neither team pulling away. Blackhall opened the scoring through Jane Dolan but were pegged back instantly. The teams traded scores for the first quarter but it was quick thinking from Kristina Troy that produced the first goal of the game when see pounced on an goalkeeping error to give her side a 1-3 to 2 point lead. The visitors recovered well and responded with goal of their own before Dolan pointed twice more to maintain the Gaels advantage. Na Fianna again raised the green flag to leave it 1-5 to 2-2 as half time closed in but the teams traded scores to leave it level at half time. Half Time Blackhall Gaels 1-6 Na Fianna 2-3

Blackhall began the second half brightly as Troy and Dolan pointed. It was 1-9 to 2-4 when Na Fianna with forty minutes gone took the lead with their third goal that came as a hammer blow to the Blackhall girls. They were in further trouble when Na Fianna extended their lead from a free. The Gaels didn't panic and rattled off three unanswered points through the ever present Dolan which restored their lead albeit slender. A pointed penalty gave Na Fianna a boost going in the to closing minutes The contest was far from over as the sides continued to trade scores.  In the dying moments with the Gaels one up Na Fianna hit the post. The visitors were awarded a free for a technical infringement and duly took their point to secure a draw.
