Gaeil Colmcille 3-8
Duleek Bellewstown 2-7

Gaeil Colmcille claimed the Under 16 Division 5 Summer League title with a four point victory over Duleek Bellewstown at Pairc Tailteann last night.

The winners got the perfect start when Cormac Mattimoe scored a fine goal after two minutes. Conal Courtney and Mattimoe added points soon after and the Kells lads were five up after ten minutes. Evan Ryan put Duleek on the scoreboard before the east Meath side were down to 14 players. Referee Paul Mooney issued a red card to Dean Brodigan. Gaeil Colmcille finished out the half on top. A brace of points from Mattimoe and a goal from midfielder Shane Bennett gave them a 3-4 to 0-2 interval lead.

Callum Cooney brought Duleek back into the game with a goal after five minutes of the second half. Conor Butler added a point and the lead was down to four. Courtney and Bennett, from a 45, replied with points for Kells before Duleek enjoyed their best period of the game. Cormac McGroggan hit 1-1 and a brace of points from Evan Ryan had the gap down to a goal 3-6 to 2-6. Mattimoe and Aaron Seery traded points and with five minutes to go that goal still separated the teams. Duleek came looking for a leveller but the Kells defence stood firm and Bennett kicked the insurance point on the stroke of full time.
