BFL2: good win for Dunderry

These 2 teams played on a warm Saturday evening and produced a good display of end to end football, the visitors caught Dunderry on the hop and opened the scoring with a point after 1 min but the home side drew level with a well taken point from a Trevor Conaty free.

The home team went on to open a 3 point lead with score from Conaty, J.P. Kennelly but the visitors pulled it back too 1 point. Thomas Doherty was strong in midfield winning lots of high balls and one of the clearances he won and fed half forward Mickey Dowdall who ran at the defence drew in the defender and slipped a pass to Peter Casey who fired over a fine point. Dowdall got in on the scoring with points in the 24th and 29th mins followed by points from Kennelly and Conaty to leave the half time score 0-9 to 0-6 to the home side.

2nd half started with the visitors hitting 2 quick points but Casey was on hand to put over a point in the 35th min. St. Colmcilles levelled with a goal in the 51st and went ahead with another goal in the 53rd min. Kennelly and Doherty fought a hard battle in midfield and a sweeping move from one end to the other ended with Doherty and buried the ball into the net in the 55th min. Conaty pointed a free then a move involving Kennelly, Dowdall and Casey ended with sub Alan Garry knocking over a point in the 58th min. Eoghan Daly scored the insurance point with the last kick of the game to leave Dunderry victor's in this hard fought game.
