SFC: Two on the bounce for Dunboyne

St Peters Dunboyne had too much firepower for a struggling Oldcastle in this round 3 of the hoganstand.com senior football championship game at Kilberry.

Having lost their opening round game to Duleek bellewstown Dunboyne have bounced back to win two championship games on the trot.

Struggling Oldcastle could never come to terms with a very powerful Dunboyne outfit. Man of the match Donal Lenihan scored 1-5 in the opening half at the end of which the winners led 2-9 to 2-4. David Geaney raised the other green flag. The Gilsenan brothers, Paddy and Eoin, kept Oldcastle in the game. Paddy netted from the penalty spot while Eoin got the score of the game with a brilliantly worked goal.

Oldcastle could only manage two points in the second half through Paddy Gilsenan and Alan McCann. Within 10 minutes of the second period Dunboyne hit 1-3 without reply. Conor McCann stole in for their third goal while Shane McEntee, Craig Berrigan and Geaney raised white flags. Berrigan got in for the 4th goal with five minutes left as Dunboyne recorded a comfortable victory.

Dunboyne scorers: Donal lenihan 1-7, David Geaney 1-4, Conor Daly 1-2, Craig Berrigan 1-1, Ger Robinson and Shane McEntee 0-1 each.
