Wolfe Tones recorded a comfortable victory over Clann Na nGael to claim the Meath U16 Division 4 Football League title in ideal conditions at Pairc Tailteann.
The Tones got the opening score of the game when Cian O'Neill pointed. Minutes later John Paul Melady got their first goal. Luke Swain kicked three mighty points for Clann Na nGael before Eanna O'Kelly Lynch got in for the Tones second major. Further goals from Matthew Melady and another from O'Kelly Lynch put the winners into a comfortable 4-8 to 0-4 lead at the interval.
Midway through the second half Clann Na nGael had the gap reduced to eleven points, 4-9 to 1-7, with scores from Darragh Brogan (2), Luke Swain (1)) and a goal from Aaron Doherty. A more superior Wolfe Tones side were not to be denied victory and three points from Luke Sheridan plus the final score of the game from O'Kelly Lynch gave the Gibbstown Kilberry outfit a well deserved win.
After the game Minor Board Secretary Peter O'Halloran presented the U16 Div 4 FL Cup to Wolfe Tones captain Cillian McFadden.
