HL3B: Na Fianna impress

May 21, 2012

Na Fianna's David Coffey
Ratoath 0-11
Na Fianna 2-15

Na Fianna made the trip to Ratoath for this Division 3B hurling league game on Sunday afternoon and came away with the two points after a solid team performance.

Na Fianna took the lead right from the off with a superb long range point from team captain James Griffin and were never headed from then as further points from Paul Hanley (2), Tony Healy, Shane Greany and a goal from Cha Loughlin had Na Fianna well in command. Ratoath then hit a purple patch and tagged on 5 points before another Hanley point put Na Fianna into a 1-6 to 0-07 point lead. The turning point of the game came right on half time as Ratoath were awarded a penalty which was saved on the line by corner back David Coffey to keep Na Fianna in the lead at half time.

Na Fianna introduced Mark Kelly, Jordan Nolan, Liam Nolan and Mark Coffey at half time and this freshened things up as Na Fianna continued to pick off their points with Jordan Nolan (2), Liam Nolan and Hanley prominent. Mark Coffey scored 1-1 in quick succession to end the game as a contest on a final scoreline of Na Fianna 2-15, Ratoath 0-11.

Best for Na Fianna in a solid all round performance were David Coffey, Shane Greany, Alan Burke, Paul Hanley and Mark Coffey
