AFL4: Longwood steam past Curraha
March 01, 2012

Longwood's Rory Maguire
Longwood 1-11
Curraha 1-2
The Wood made the long midweek trip to Ashbourne to play table toppers Curraha and ran out comfortable winners with a 9 point win.
Longwood raced out of the traps with Karl Ennis scoring after one minute soon followed by a David Dixon point and then two Rory Maguire points to leave them four points up after 15 minutes, then Curraha had a purple patch and hit 1-1 within minutes to draw level. Longwood lost Ciaran Greene early on with a dead leg but showed great composure and went down the pitch and scored two unanswered points from in form Karl Ennis, corner forward Aaron Ennis then got a point from a well worked free to slot over, and this was quickly followed by a goal from from the corner forward after great work from Rory Maguire, points followed from Anthony Healy and Rory Maguire to leave the score at halftime 1-9 to 1-2.
The second half got underway with Longwood going eight points clear after Aaron Ennis was fouled and Rory Maguire slotted over the resulting free. Curraha were given a lifeline after David Dixon was sent off following an off the ball incident. But the comeback never materialised as Longwood worked hard to hold their lead and in the remaining minutes Rory Maguire slotted over his fifth of the night to leave it 1-11 to 1-2.
It was a well deserved victory for the Wood, where their midfield dominated through out and the rest of the team fed off that hunger.
