St. Peter's Dunboyne got their A League Divsion 1 campaign back on track following their opening day defeat with what turned out to be a hard fought win over Castletown in Dunboyne.
The home side were well in control in the early stages and built a four point lead with two scores each from Gary Watters and free taker Stephen Moran before Castletown registered their first point of the game after fifteen minutes. Another point for Castletown quickly followed but four further unanswered points from St. Peter's including a fine score from David Gallagher put St. Peter's back in firm control at 0-08 to 0-02. A high ball into the Castletown full forward line led to the first goal of the game towards the end of the first half. St. Peter's full forward Gary Watters then registered his fourth of five points from play on the stroke of half time to leave the Dunboyne men leading by 0-09 to 1-02 at the break.
Castletown opened the second half''s scoring with a pointed free before frees from Stephen Moran and substitute Ger Robinson, either side of another fine point from Gary Watters stretched Dunboyne's lead to six points (0-12 to 1-03) mid way through the second half . St. Peter's corner back Gary Timoney was dismissed shortly after and Dunboyne came under a brief spell of pressure when Castletown scored their second goal of the game from the penalty spot to leave three points between the sides heading into the closing stages. Both sides exchanged scores in an exciting finish before David Coldrick brought proceedings to an end.
