AFL3: Clann outpoint Syddan
February 27, 2012

Clann Na nGaels Damien Tuite
Clann na nGael 1-11
Syddan 0-8
A minute's silence was observed before this match in memory of the late Sean Carrigy of Clann na nGael who passed away last week and the home side did their best to honour his passing with a well deserved six points win.
Clann got off to a blistering start with a point from their first attack from Arron Ennis followed by one from Darragh Griffin and when Damien Tuite pounced for an opportunist soccer style goal Syddan were left with a mountain to climb. Syddan got motoring then with a couple of points from play and had two good goal chances one of which went narrowly wide and the other was well saved by goal keeper Darren Griffin.
Both sides were guilty of missing some good chances before the half leaving the half time score 1-5 to 0- 4 points to Clan.
Syddan tried to gain momentum after the break and threatened to for a while until county man Shane McAnerney and John Daly popped up with some well taken scores to extend the lead further. Syddan continued to fight hard but never looked like getting a goal which they needed to get back into the game. Both sides exchanged scores right to the end but Clan maintained a six point gap to secure the points and make it two wins from two outings in the League.
