ACFL 2: Comfortable win for Gaeils

Gaeil Colmcille got their second win of the competition with a comfortable victory over St Colmcilles in this Division 2 game played in Grangegodden Kells on Sunday.

Jody Devine's men got off to a dream start, and put (3-02) on the scoreboard in the first ten minutes. Keith Reilly gave them the start
with a point inside the first minute.

Two quick goals from half forward Seanie Curran and a Brian Hanlon goal shortly afterwards gave the visitors a mountain to climb at this early stage. St Colmcilles got their first score soon afterwards but the Gaeils weren't going to let them settle. A goal from full forward Martin Barrett kept the pressure on and St Colmcilles could only manage two more points in the opening half. The Gaeils impressive corner forward Seamus Mattimoe ended the half with another point from play to leave Gaeil Colmcille coasting to a (4-04) to (0-03) at half time. Seamus Mattmoe started the second half with a well taken point and when he stuck the ball in the back of the visitors goals

For the Gaeils fifth goal there was no way back for the Louth border men, with twenty minutes remaining things evened up Colmcilles Scored five points but the Gaeils never let up and further points from Mattimoe.

Keith Reilly Brian Hanlon and a long range effort from midfielder philly Ward ended the game with a well deserved victory.
