AFL1: Duleek/Bell come short against Summerhill
February 20, 2012

Conal McGinley Duleek Bellewstown
Duleek/Bellewstown along with their new sponsors the Energy Centre, went into this game with high hopes with getting their league campaign off to a winning start. Unfortunately it was not to be on this occasion as they went down to a 4 point defeat to the county champions Summerhill.
Summerhill found themselves infront 1-01 to no score after ten minutes of play. Tony Cunningham opened up the scoring for Duleek/Bellewstown with further points from John Flood and Conal McGinley to leave it 1-05 to 0-03 in favour of the senior champions of 2011.
Second half points from John Flood and three from Conal McGinley were not enough to secure victory as Summerhill came out winners in the end by four points. A penalty miss by Conal McGinley proved costly which would have left a point between the two sides as McGinley saw his effort go wide off the left hand post. Duleek/Bellewstowns afternoon got worse as John Flood came off with what looked to be a bad knee injury adding to their long list of injured players.
