Goals from Mark McCabe and Seamus Kenny propelled Simonstown to an opening day FL Division 2 victory over hosts Walterstown on Sunday.

Walterstown got the first two scores off the game through Cormac Madden and Richie Barry but McCabe's 24th minute strike - following good approach play by Shane Barry and Padraig McKeever - helped establish a 1-4 to 0-5 interval lead for the team in sky blue.

Barry and David Donnellan responded after the break for the Blacks. Simonstown made sure of the points when McKeever was also involved in the build-up to Kenny's goal which arrived nine minutes from time and opened up a six point cushion for Sean Barry's charges.

Ian O'Rourke and Sean Tobin also caught the eye for the winners in what was a fine all round team display.
