Na Fianna 1-11
Moynalvey 1-3

Na Fianna welcomed the 2011 Intermediate Champions, Moynalvey, to Enfield on Sunday for their opening Division 3 A League game.

Na Fianna opened the scoring with a Brian Queeney point after four minutes. Further points from Jamie Queeney and Mick Foley allowed the home team take a 0-6 to 0-1 lead after twenty minutes. However, a goal and a point from the visitors brought them back into the game to leave the half time score at 0-7 to 1-2. Moynalvey upped their performance in the early part of the second half but excellent defending from Na Fianna, particularly Tommy and Christy Cosgrove, Dean Henrick and Johnny Baldwin kept the visitors at bay. Na Fianna then began to take control and after two excellent saves from the Moynalvey keeper, Ollie Regan, Conor Downey finished a good Na Fianna movement to the net.

Further points from Seanie Griffin, Ollie Lewis, Queeney and Foley saw the home side record a convincing opening league win.
