ACFL 4: Third straight defeat for Kilbride

St. Marys hoped were seeking to get back to winning ways following their narrow defeat to Cortown last weekend. The home side started well and were in control from early in the game with points from Cormac Drew, Jack English and Robbie Callaghan; however Kilbride found themselves back in the game through a fortuitous goal in the 16th minute. This didn't deter St Marys as they gained the upper hand again and when Cormac Drew found James Lynch in the Kilbride penalty area he was bundled to the ground, Drew then cooling dispatched the spot kick. St Marys added 2 more points to lead 1-6 to 1-4 t the break. Finbar Clarke, Peter Roche and Stephen McMullen were showing best for the visitors.

In the second half St Marys reasserted their dominance and were causing Kilbride all sorts of trouble as they dominate possession around the middle third, they are also finding their inside forwards with ease. Eoin Morrison, Marc Morrison and added points.

While Kilbride rallied and finished the stronger, scores from Jeff Sheridan and another two from McMullen and two from the great Veteran Dermot White wasn't enough for Kilbride.

Then the contest was put beyond doubt in the 51st minute when Eoin Morrisson found James Lynch in space 14 yards from goal, Lynch finished to the net to give St. Marys a comfortable 7 point lead. The East Meath men continued to create opportunities and had they been more clinical this could have extended their lead further.
