Cortown made the trip to Moylagh for this Division 4 league game on Sunday afternoon. Cortown started brightly and went two points ahead with scores from Colm Kerrigan and Brian Casserly after 10 minutes.
Moylagh then began to pull the strings and added four points of their own through Aengus Fanning, Tommy O'Reilly, Sean og Doyne and Eanna Brody leaving Moylagh ahead A Gary Coyne free and another point from Colm Kerrigan left the sides level again after 20 minutes. Moylagh were awarded a penalty after 25 minutes which despite goalkeeper John McFadden getting a hand to it, Peter Fox's effort ended up in the net. Moylagh followed up the goal with a well taken point before a Glen Loughran free left the scores at half time Moylagh 1-5 Cortown 0-6
Moylagh came out for the second half with all guns blazing and scored five points in the first 10 minutes with Eanna Brody kicking three points and Willie McGrath two. Gary Coyne registered Cortown's first score after 11 minutes. Coyne then scored a free to leave the margin at five points. Moylagh responded with another three points to push the margin out to eight with eight minutes left.
Cortown went looking for goals and they got one when Declan Coyne fisted to the net .two points from Loughran and Casserly left three points between the sides entering injury time however Moylagh dispossessed a Cortown attack and added the insurance point with the last kick of the game.
This was a competitive game with some good football played in parts. Both teams will meet again in Group A of the Junior championship later in the year.
