This was a home fixture for the Cilles but due to ongoing works to their pitch they conceded their home advantage to travel to Rathkenny.

Rathkenny opened the scoring with a point from Donal Curtis in the first minute. The Cilles were given the chance to equalise through two frees from Jack Reynolds, both of which he failed to convert.

However, Ciaran Kelly then converted the Cilles third free to open their scoring after 10 minutes. Rathkenny then added to their tally with an Owen Elliott point, the Cilles then drew level with a super point from Damien O'Brien in the 14th minute. The Cilles then enjoyed a dominant spell with two great points from Jack Reynolds to leave the away side ahead 0-4 to 0-2 as the first half drew to a close. However, Rathkenny added two more from Murt Donnelly frees only for the Cilles to close the half with a converted free from Ciaran Kelly. The Cilles led by 0-5 to 0-4 at half time.

The two sides lined out the same at the start of the second half as they did at the start of the first half with no changes. Ciaran Kelly again converted another free in the first minute of the second half. However, this was to be the Cilles only score for a prolonged spell, where there were a number of wides over the next 25 minutes. Rathkenny had the chance to storm ahead in the 5th minute when they were awarded a penalty by Patrick Neilis. However, Cilles goalkeeper Darren Magill pulled off a great save. During the next 20 minutes Rathkenny added four points, with Donnelly and Ivan Lenehan on target.

The Cilles pulled back when Ciaran Kelly scored another free in the 28th minute to leave them one point behind in the closing stages. Jack Reynolds then scored for the Cilles from another free in the closing stages to leave the sides level at 0-8 each to share the points.
