Cortown gained their first two points of their A league Division 4 against St Marys played at Dunganny on Sunday morning.

Cortown started brightly and went two points up with efforts from Glen Loughran (free) and Gary Coyne. St Marys responded with the next number of scores with Eoin Morrisson and David Smith among their scorers to lead by two after 20 minutes. Cortown rallied and points from Gary Coyne, Brian Casserly, Declan Coyne and a well worked goal from Ivor O'Halloran left Cortown leading by double scores 1-5 to 0-4 at half time.

For the second half Tony Mc Donnell replaced Gary Teelan and Brain Smith replaced the injured Michael Everard for St Mary's. Cortown started brightly with two points from Tommy Smith after seven minutes to lead by six. However St Marys began to gain the upper hand and began to dominate possession. The deficient was reduced to four points with scores again from Eoin Morrisson. St Marys were then dealt a lifeline when Cortown's Martin Henry saw red for a second bookable offence. With scores from Cormac Drew and Stephen Bishop the margin was down to the minimum.

But it was to be Cortown's day, as the St. Marys men failed to convert possession into scores, this certainly feels like one the Donore and Rosnaree men left behind them.
