Banty speaks against manager payments

Meath manager Seamus McEnaney
Meath boss Seamus McEnaney is opposed to paying intercounty managers.
Though he himself would be one of those to benefit from such payments were they to be introduced, 'Banty' told the Meath News & Sport that he'd prefer to protect the Association's voluntary ethos:
"Every individual has their own circumstances and each individual manager will have their own opinion on that but, as far as I would be concerned, it is vital that we hold onto our amateur status.
"The amount of time I have put into managing at intercounty level, I would have been able to run another business. If you are doing the job right, you are operating 30-35 hours a week.
"It consumes your life and that is all you think about morning, noon and night.
"I'm all for managers being paid legitimate expenses but I would not be in favour of managers being paid over and above that, or any move that would threaten our amateur ethos."
