At the county committee meeting on Monday night, the St Vincent's and Duleek/Bellewstown clubs paid tributes to the late Shay Lane, who passed away suddenly at the age of 54 last week.

Brian Carberry of St Vincent's described Shay as "a great community man," saying he had been on the Ardcath club's committee for a number of years, serving as secretary and treasurer.

Paddy Watters of Duleek/Bellewstown recalled Shay playing all his underage football with Duleek. "He scored the winning point in the 1978 IFC final against Kilmainhamwood, I was the Duleek captain that day," he said of the deceased.

Chairman Barney Allen and Pat O'Neill also offered tributes and condolences. Tweet
